I've been looking for a way to discover new music. Spotify used to be quite good, but now I feel like 10% of the stuff it recommends me is AI slop.

Different countries do things differently. Some have different alphabets, or just additional characters. Some allow middle names as separate from first or family names, while some instead do not not allow middle names, but instead allow multiple first names and/or family names. In some countries its normal to get your mother's maiden name as a middle name or as a second part of your first name, while other contries again dictate that any and all first names should be commonly recognized as a first name and not easily mistaken as a family name.

Hi. I've been watching Reacher a lot lately, but I'm looking for more vigilante shows or crime-fighting shows. It'd be great if it was about fighting nazis or taking down the alt-right, but regular crime-fighting is alright too. Something like The Boys. Here are some of the shows I watch.

Has anyone here expanded internet connectivity to their garden with an ethernet cable? I am speaking about non-wireless communications. To some hut some 100 meters away? What are your experiences with it? Is it as simple as digging a cable trench, putting the cable in (maybe with some pipe to protect it) and covering it?

so ive seen several nicknames for my name, veronika. ive seen vero, vera, ronnie, and even nika. however, i live in the united states so im scared that if i have teachers call me nika, kids will "think" im calling myself a racial slur (the n-word) even tho i went to middle school with a nika/nikka (i forgot how to spell her name). i'm nonbinary, so ronnie could work for being short for ron, maybe aaron or veronika/veronica, but i dont really like masculine terms even tho there are plenty of girls named ronnie.

Is workplace gossip just a painful fact of life? Is there a way to go beneath the radar with regards to coworkers and staff who base their life enjoyment discussing other people’s personal business? Is there a good model for reducing the amount of workplace gossip/reinforcing more pro social habits? Or is that just how people socialize? What is the best way to share videos on Lemmy? As far as I know, uploading is not possible in principle, or is that only the case here? In addition to external video hosts, I am particularly interested in how well this works with other services from the Fediverse. For example, videos from PeerTube, Loops, or Pixelfed.

As a Christian who doesn't follow much of the super religious "rules", I think it's kind of a red flag but sometimes it's not. Red flag because my girlfriend's ex-friend was super devout and put it all over her bio and was very ableist and homophobic. My friend, for example, is agnostic, so he's not sure if spirituality exists. He has a friend who's super devout and constantly talks about Christianity. She has a Discord server about Christianity and most of her friends are Christian who just talk about Jesus and God all the time. She puts the crosses and bible verses in her bio too. She's very nice and tries to be accepting but seems kinda judgmental or like "Oh, your non-traditional ways are... nice I guess."

i believe one of my past lives was a 16-year-old boy called rafael silva from rio de janeiro. he was a language learner and knew portuguese natively, english from the internet and school, spanish, and german. he was also picking up dutch. he got bullied a lot however and felt like his parents didn't really understand him, and eventually killed himself at 16.
